Neuro MS/D Diagnosis
Presentation of Neuro MS/D Diagnosis
When the pulsed magnetic field reaches the nerve structures, it induces an electric current and can excite the nerve fibers.
If the EMG is recorded at this time, the motor evoked potential (MEP) can be recorded.
Using this approach, cerebral, spinal and peripheral nerve pathways can be studied.
These tests are particularly important for studying patients with multiple sclerosis, tumor and vascular lesions.
The magnetic stimulator can be synchronized with a Neurosoft EMG device, which guarantees predefined patterns for a wide range of TMS tests:
- Motor evoked potentials (MEP)
- Central motor conduction time (CMCT)
- Silent Period (SP)
- Interhemispheric inhibition (IHI or homolateral SP)
- Triple stimulation test (TST)
- low and high frequency rTMS
- Stimulation of the phrenic nerve to study the response of the diaphragm
This device can also be synchronized with other EMG devices of different brands.
Study of central and peripheral motor pathways
The magnetic field generated by the Neuro-MS/D magnetic stimulator can easily pass through clothing, skin and bone. When the pulsed magnetic field reaches the nerve structures, it induces an electric current and can excite the nerve structures. If the EMG is recorded at this time, the motor evoked potential (MEP) can be recorded.
This approach allows the study of cerebral, spinal and peripheral nerve pathways. These tests are particularly important for the study of patients with demyelinating diseases of the nervous system, in particular multiple sclerosis, tumor and vascular lesions.
The magnetic stimulator can work with EMG recorders from many manufacturers (via TTL/CMOS trig-in/out sockets). However, maximum diagnostic capabilities can be achieved if the device is used with Neurosoft digital neurophysiological systems.
The Neuro-MEP.NET software supplied with Neurosoft neurophysiological systems, such as the Skybox, provides predefined models for a wide range of TMS tests:
- Motor evoked potentials (MEP)
- Central motor conduction time (CMT)
- Silent Period (SP)
- Interhemispheric inhibition (IHI or ipsilateral SP)
- Triple stimulation test (TST)
- Low and high frequency rTMS
- Phrenic nerve stimulation to study diaphragm response.
7 reels to choose from
In the diagnostic configuration, 7 different coils can be delivered, including ring coils, figure-eight coils, angled figure-eight coils and placebo coils. All coils are equipped with a “Pulse” button and a “Ready” indicator. The waveform of the magnetic field, its depth of penetration, the number of stimuli until overheating, the maximum intensity of the magnetic induction depend on the type of coil. For example, the maximum induction area of the ring coils is on the inner edge, and the maximum induction area of the figure-eight coil is in the center. A battery of coils adapted to all diagnostic needs: focal stimulation, stimulation of large areas, stimulation of deep and superficial structures.
Peak magnetic field – up to 4 T
The peak magnetic field of the Neuro-MS/D reaches 4 T, one of the highest values in the industry. This intensity allows for a reliable motor response, even in the most complicated cases.
Delayed charge mode
When working with the digital EMG system, a delay for capacitor charging is set in the single pulse mode to avoid the impact of power supply noise during acquisition. The range of the delay is 0 to 9.9 seconds.
Connection to computer via USB port
Neuro-MS/D can be used with neurophysiological systems manufactured by Neurosoft. Simply connect the magnetic stimulator to the computer with the EMG or EEG software installed via the USB port. Neurosoft is the only company in the industry that produces both professional EMG/NCS and TMS machines. This means that the integration between TMS and EMG can be done at a very deep level. The EMG software can fully control all parameters of the magnetic stimulator.
