Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) methods are commonly used to infer causal relationships between the brain and behaviour. Clinical applications based on TMS have also been developed to treat neurological or psychiatric disorders such as depression, dystonia, pain, tinnitus or the consequences of a stroke.
